Karen is committed to reaching the client’s goals expeditiously, while acknowledging that litigation is expensive and unpredictable. Karen, a certified mediator, relies on her skills in alternative dispute resolution when appropriate for her clients, but when litigation is necessary she aggressively protects her clients’ interests with quality legal representation. Karen’s strong trial background and extensive litigation skills attest to her ability to manage complex litigation to protect the interests and assets of clients in a variety of businesses.
In her commercial litigation career, among other civil actions, Karen:

• represented one of the nation’s largest healthcare companies in protracted litigation filed to enforce the company’s contract rights against former employees who established competing businesses in violation of covenants not to compete.

• worked with a team of lawyers representing one of the largest timber companies in the U.S. in its suit to enforce its right to purchase hundreds of thousands of acres of timberland in Mississippi and Louisiana. Karen successfully directed the management of in excess of one million pages of documents in this case.

• represented one of the largest trucking companies in the U.S. defending a products liability - wrongful death claim.

• worked with a team of litigators defending a large chemical company in a lawsuit brought by hundreds of individual plaintiffs claiming personal injuries and property damage.

• assisted a team of lawyers in successfully defending a large insurance company being investigated by a federal grand jury.

• assisted in the defense of antitrust claims against a leading manufacturer of exercise / health equipment.

• assisted in representing a large contractor in the defense of a claim by a quadriplegic for personal injury.
